Lorena Rivas
Lorena Rivas is an experienced and accomplished immigration law attorney. She brings a dynamic and accomplished skill set to the firm, highlighted by her work on many nationwide complex and high stakes immigration cases . As a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), much of Lorena’s work centers on the legal representation of individuals who are facing the numerous and complicated immigration laws of the United States in affirmative and defensive immigration policies before the Department of Homeland Security.
Licensed to practice in Oklahoma but eligible to practice immigration law in every state, Lorena has served as the past vice-chair for the Oklahoma Bar Diversity Committee. Lorena is a 2014 graduate of the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Leadership Academy and recently graduated from the OBA Family Law Section Trial Advocacy Institute. She was also recently nominated for the 2015 Williams Women of Inspiration Award.
Lorena graduated in 2012 with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Tulsa College of Law where she not only graduated with honors but also actively participated in the Immigrant Rights Legal Clinic. Lorena successfully prevented a Haitian national from being returned to Haiti, in terrible conditions due to the recent earthquake and hurricane, and she helped a mother and her two children remain in the United States after being victims of domestic and sexual abuse in Mexico.
Originally from Mutual, Oklahoma, Lorena is the proud daughter of two Mexican nationals who have paved the way for her to continually serve and represent her Latino community and family as an immigration law attorney.
Juan Garcés
Juan Garcés Jr. is a strong proponent of immigrant rights and passionate about defending the interests of his clients. His practice encompasses a broad range of immigration issues-from the common H1b visa, to complex human rights questions involving the United Nations Convention Against Torture. He is licensed to practice law in Illinois and is a member of the Chicago Bar Association.
Born in Guatemala of Cuban exile parents, Juan understands the often daunting obstacles encountered by those who leave their native countries in search of a better life. His international legal studies and extensive travel to six continents give him a unique global perspective which allows for effective advocacy of diverse client needs.
In his spare time Juan enjoys reading, travel, and mountaineering. He is a supporter of the Lyric Opera and lives in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood.
